Sally Beauty Haul

I feel like a bad blogger.  Well actually, having nail polish makes me a good blogger, but I had kinda promised myself after the 40-something bottles I got for Christmas, I'd go on a no buy for a while until most of my untrieds were at 10.  But, in my defense all of the China Glaze were on sale, the Finger Paints were the last they had, and the Claire's Magnetix has the coolest magnet and it's a glittery mauve magnetic polish.

(from L-R: Finger Paints 'Twisted' and 'Asylum', China Glaze 'Dorothy Who?', 'Ruby Pumps', 'Frostbite', 'Blue Year's Eve' and 'Glittering Garland' and the unnamed Claire's mauve Magnetix)

Now, normally I would say that 'Swatches coming soon!' but I still have to post the mini OPIs and still have to swatch all of the drugstore polishes in this haul.  And look at all my unswatches (seen below).  And trust me it's a lot more polish than it looks. But as I type this I have the 6th swatch of the day on my hand :)

I don't know if you guys have any untrieds, but do you?

Mini Essie vs Mini OPI

Now in Mini OPI haul I said how much I like mini things.  So I was at TJ Maxx looking for nail polish (go often they can have some GREAT nail polish deals, and I've seen Color Club and Nicole by OPI too) and I saw this:

 Essie 2011 Brazilliant Summer Collection

This shows the color really acuratly

(Brazilliant, Smooth Sailing, Super Bossa Nova, Meet Me at Sunset)

These colors are all so pretty.  The colors from this collection that aren't in the set are 'Absolutely Shore' and 'Too Too Hot'.

This is the mini brush vs. the regular Essie brush.  You have no idea how exited that they're the same.  From the top you can tell that the regular may have a little bit more bristles but other than that they're exactly the same.  Unlike the OPI mini's.

The OPI mini brush is just depressing.  I really wish they would just make the brush disproportionate from the bottle so it's more useable.  Plus the bottle is bigger (Essie's being .16 oz and OPI's being .125 oz).

bottle comparison.

Island Girl Haul!

I have a very like the best dad.  He spent the last week in Vegas and the last month before that I had been going on and on and on about Island Girl and how it can only be found at abc stores in Vegas.  Well when I saw him he brought me back a bagillion Island Girl stuff!  (sorry for the awkward lighting but I got the colors the most accurate)

Aloha Magic 5 pack

2-way Nail Art Pen and Striper

Mood Nail Color in Lei's

(top to bottom: watermelon, bubble gum, strawberry and raspberry)
And a 4 pack of roll on lipgloss with real flowers (I checked on the site)

(close up)

Now this is the purple from the 5 pack and it was, unique.  And by this I mean that the formula was so weird.  It was sheer but ya' know how sometimes going over a layer of paint and it pulls it off?  All of this would just come off when the brush barely touched it.  Like, the whole part of the nail was naked.  Also it dried darker than the bottle see picture below

BTW this is not my swatch of this color.  On thursday we have a half day and no school on friday and I promise you three
readers that I will go SWATCH CRAZY!

Two Too Many Hauls

I'm a bad person.  I didn't share this earlier because I didn't have a camera.

So this first one is from Rite Aid and the red Sally Hansen was only $.49.  Although I used my moms store card, so every thing was cheaper.  And in my defense I got all of these for around $14.  On to what I actually bought!

(from l-r: Revlon 'Not so Blueberry' & 'Grape Icy', Sinful Colors 'Ciao Bella' & 'Love Nails', Pumpkin Nail Lacquer (no names but a black and orange glitter and a hot pink glow in the dark), Sally Hansen 'Red Hot', and Essie 'Power Clutch')

Aren't they all pretty?!?!  Unfortunately the darker Sinful Colors and the two pumpkin ones (I love those bottles) didn't photograph well.  Although all the other are pretty good.  When I swatch them I'll make sure the colors are right.

(from l-r: China Glaze 'Go Go Pink', Finger Paints 'I'm a Survivor' China Glaze 'Strawberry Fields' and Orly 'Oh Cabana Boy' & 'Passion Fruit')

And then the other day I went to Sally beauty and got a bottle of thinner (everyone needs that stuff) and swatch wheels.  And then Orly and China Glaze had breast cancer displays of all these pretty pinks.  The Finger Paints was on clearance for $1 and the China Glaze was in the pack with the Seche Vite was $9 so those were both on sale.

As for the colors the only cremes are 'Go Go Pink' and 'Passion Fruit',  all of the others were really pretty shimmers.  And again I didn't try to get the shimmers to show but the colors are pretty accurate, except 'Passion Fruit' which isn't as red.

OPI Nail Mail!!

So a while ago I bought OPI 'Black Cherry Chutney' (form 2008 Spring India collection) and I was really ticked off because it was a thick goopy mess (needed some thinner guess it was old) and there was barely any shimmer on the nail and there was a lot in the bottle.  Anyways, in my extremely annoyed state I wrote a letter to OPI (I know right, how cool am I?).  Basically I said that other OPI products I had tried were great and that this one wasn't, and as a nail-obsessor was aggravated with that nail polish.  Well, last Tuesday I got a package in the mail from OPI and inside there was a plastic bag covered in pictures of different OPI polishes,  a letter from Suzi Weiss-Fischmann.  Yes as in the Suzi of 'Suzi & the Lifeguard' and 'Suzi Takes the Wheel' and a bunch of other names of polishes.  Oh did I mention she's the cofounder, VP and artistic director of OPI?

And the last thing I got from OPI is a mini set of some of the Texas collection polishes!  Now one thing you should know about me is that I love mini things.  And by that I mean nail polishes or shampoos or lotions that come in smaller-sized packages of there average-sized brethren  (gross did I just use that word in a sentence??  that's only something old people do!).  The colors they sent were (from left to right) 'Austin-tatious Turquoise' 'I Vant to Be A-Lone Star' 'Do You Think I'm Tex-y?' and a mini Rapidry Topcoat.  EEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!   I'm not kidding when I say I spent an hour going "They're babies!!" and "WHEEEEEEEEEE"

Here's the description OPI gives for these colors:
  • 'Austin-tatious Turquoise', Cowgirls love this bodacious blue-green
    • Well, what they don't mention is that this is a shimmer.  in the bottle you see some purple shimmer but I'm not too sure if that'd translate on to the nail.
  • 'I Vant to Be A-Lone Star', You won't want to share this starry Texas-sky blue
    • Where on earth are they getting blue from????  Ok sure, i guess it has a blue tint, but if you asked me it's definitely more of a silver shimmer.  It's still pretty just not blue.
  • 'Do you Think I'm Tex-y?' A "berry" sexy bloom of Dallas dahlia
    • This color was hard to photo graph in the bottle kept on coming out as a true-red instead of the berry it really is.  Also this is one of the 'sorbet' shades (duh any true nail junkie knows it's really just  a jelly).

Here's another picture since scrolling up to the beginning of my rant is too much work.

This picture shows 'Do You Think I'm Tex-y?''s true color

And then Mimi and my mom had gone to Target and when Mimi came home she showed me these pretties she had got me!  This is Essie 'Jamaica Me Crazy' and Revlon 'Poppy'.  I asked her why and she said just because, and I'm extremely grateful.  I know your all jealous because my sister's better than yours!

Swatches and reviews coming soon!!
